What to expect on install day

You've chosen your system and scheduled the installation. Here's exactly what happens on install day so there are no surprises.

Before we arrive

We'll confirm your installation window the day before. Typical installations are scheduled in the morning. A few things to have ready:

• Clear access to the main water line. This is usually where the water meter connects to your house — often in the garage, along an exterior wall, or in a utility closet.
• Clear a workspace. We need about 4–6 feet of space around the installation point. If the area is cluttered, clearing it beforehand saves time.
• Expect the water to be off briefly. We'll shut off the main water supply during the plumbing connections, typically for 30–60 minutes.

What the technician does

1. Site assessment (15 minutes)

Even though we've already scoped the job during the quote visit, the technician will do a final check of the installation location, verify the plumbing connections, and confirm the system placement.

2. Plumbing connections (45–90 minutes)

This is the core of the installation. The technician will:

• Shut off the main water supply
• Cut into the main water line after the shutoff valve
• Install bypass valves (so the system can be serviced without shutting off water to the house)
• Connect the system inlet and outlet
• Run the drain line for the regeneration cycle
• Restore water flow and check for leaks

All connections use code-compliant fittings and methods. Our technicians are licensed and insured.

3. System setup and programming (30 minutes)

Once the plumbing is complete, the technician will:

• Fill and condition the media tank
• Program the control valve for your household size and water usage
• Set the regeneration schedule
• Run an initial backwash cycle
• Test the output water to confirm the system is working

4. Walkthrough (15 minutes)

Before we leave, we'll walk you through:

• How the system works and what the display panel shows
• How to use the bypass valves
• The regeneration schedule and what to expect (you may hear water running late at night — that's normal)
• Salt or maintenance requirements
• How to reach us if you have questions

Total time

Most whole-home system installations take 3–4 hours from arrival to walkthrough. More complex installations (difficult plumbing access, additional pre-filtration, or RO add-ons) may take longer. We'll give you a time estimate when we schedule.

After installation

First 24–48 hours: You may notice slightly different water pressure as the system conditions. This is normal and stabilizes quickly.

Ongoing: The system is largely hands-off. You'll need to keep the brine tank filled with salt (we'll show you where and what type to use). We'll set up a maintenance schedule based on your water usage and conditions.

If anything seems off: Call us. We're local, and we answer our phone. Post-installation support is part of what you're paying for — use it.

What about the under-sink RO system?

If you're adding a reverse osmosis system for drinking water, that installation is typically done at the same visit. It adds roughly 45–60 minutes. The technician will:

• Mount the RO unit under the kitchen sink
• Drill the countertop for the dedicated faucet
• Connect to the cold water line and drain
• Flush the membrane
• Show you how to replace filters when the time comes

The result: exceptional drinking water from a dedicated faucet, plus soft, filtered water from every other tap in the house.
