Reverse osmosis pushes water through a semipermeable membrane under pressure. The membrane blocks dissolved solids, minerals, and other impurities while allowing clean water molecules to pass through. The result is highly purified drinking water delivered through a dedicated faucet at your kitchen sink.

A whole-home system treats all the water entering your house — showers, laundry, dishwashers, every tap. It focuses on reducing hardness, scale, and chlorine taste and odor. An RO system is installed at a single point (typically your kitchen sink) and provides a higher level of purification specifically for drinking and cooking water. Many homeowners install both.

The system produces 50 gallons per day (7.9 liters per hour) and stores it in a pre-pressurized tank holding several gallons at a time. Because the tank fills in the background, purified water is ready on demand rather than being produced while you wait at the faucet.

Reverse osmosis inherently sends some water to the drain to carry away what the membrane separates out. This system runs at 25–30% product recovery, meaning roughly a quarter to a third of the water entering it becomes purified drinking water. Because the tank buffers demand, the membrane runs only when it needs to refill.

RO filters are typically replaced every 6 to 12 months depending on your water quality and usage. The membrane itself lasts longer, usually 2 to 3 years. We'll set a maintenance schedule based on your specific water conditions and remind you when it's time.

No. The RO system is connected to a single faucet at your kitchen sink and operates independently from the rest of your plumbing. It has no effect on pressure or flow at other fixtures in your home.
