FAQ

Common questions

What does a whole-home water system do?
A whole-home system is installed at your main water line and treats all the water entering your house. Ours combines softening resin to reduce hardness and scale with activated carbon to reduce chlorine and chloramine taste and odor. Every tap, shower, and appliance gets treated water.
How hard is San Diego's water?
Essentially all of San Diego County sits in the "very hard" category (above 180 ppm of hardness minerals). City of San Diego published figures span roughly 12.5–18 grains per gallon (about 215–285 ppm), varying by neighborhood and season, because most of our water is imported from the Colorado River, which picks up minerals as it flows through the desert Southwest. Your exact hardness depends on your address and the time of year.
What's the difference between a softener and a whole-home filtration system?
A softener uses ion-exchange resin to remove calcium and magnesium (hardness minerals) from your water, which prevents scale buildup. A whole-home filtration system can also include activated carbon to reduce chlorine taste and odor, sediment, and other aesthetic concerns. Our system combines both in a single unit.
How does reverse osmosis work?
Reverse osmosis pushes water through a semipermeable membrane that blocks dissolved solids, producing purified drinking water. Our under-sink system pairs that membrane with a pre-pressurized storage tank, so purified water is ready on demand at a dedicated faucet with steady pressure — with 94–99% TDS rejection for noticeably better taste.
How long does installation take?
A typical whole-home system installation takes 3–4 hours. Our licensed technicians handle everything — plumbing connections, system programming, and startup. We'll walk you through how the system works before we leave.
How often do filters need to be replaced?
The softening resin in a whole-home system is self-regenerating and typically lasts 5+ years under normal conditions. Activated carbon media should be replaced on a schedule we'll set based on your water usage and test results. Under-sink RO filters are typically replaced every 6–12 months.
Will it affect my water pressure?
Our systems are sized to maintain normal household water pressure. During the initial consultation, we'll assess your home's flow requirements and recommend the right system size so you don't notice a difference.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer financing options so you can spread the cost of your system into monthly payments. Ask about current terms during your phone consultation and we'll walk you through what's available.
What does the warranty cover?
Our warranty covers system dry parts for life, control valves and filtration media for 5 years, and installation labor for 1 year. Media and storage tanks carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty. You can read the full warranty statement on our warranty page.
