Overview
A sediment pre-filter installs ahead of your main system and captures the particulate matter that municipal water and private wells both carry — sand, silt, rust flakes from aging pipes, and construction debris after main line work.
This matters for more than water clarity. Sediment that reaches softening resin or an RO membrane fouls it, shortening the working life of media that would otherwise last years. On well water in particular, sediment pre-filtration is not optional — it is the stage that makes everything downstream viable.
The Big Blue housing uses a replaceable cartridge that takes a few minutes to swap, and a pressure-relief button on the cap makes servicing straightforward.
